Caught Again

On March 30, 2018, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were conducting a Safety Checkpoint in Heidelberg. During the checkpoint Deputies made contact with a Silver 4Runner driven by Kenneth Ray Brown of Heidelberg. While speaking to Brown, Deputies detected an odor believed to be Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. As  Officers prepared to search the vehicle an Officer at the scene witnessed Mr. Brown throwing a plastic bag into the wooded area next to Brown’s vehicle. Deputies found the plastic bag which contained what is believed to be ten small bags of Marijuana and one small bag of Hashish. Mr. Brown was taken into custody for two Felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substances. He was brought before Judge Marvin Jones where his bond was denied due to the fact that Brown is currently out on bond for three Sale of Controlled Substance Charges in 2017.

Murder

Quaddarrius Margun Sumlin, 25,Travis Kentrell Bunch, 25, Keyshad Donnell Arrington,21, all of Jasper County have been arrested in connection with the murder of Mercedes Angelique Dudley, 18, of Mendenhall, Ms. and aggravated assault of Rosalind Tykiara Taylor, 18 of Magee, Ms.and Diyquaviousc Kardall Ellis,19 of Laurel, Ms. A fourth suspect, Jeremy Oshea McKenzie, 29, is being sought by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department for murder and aggravated assault. This crime occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, March 24,2018. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Jeremy McKenzie is asked to call the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department 601-764-2588. Not Involved!!!

Azevaya Zykee De’Quarius Arrington was picked up and held on suspension of murder and aggravated assault. After interviewing Mr. Arrington and other witnesses,it has been determined that he had no part in the murder and assault and has been released.

Armed Robbery

On Tuesday, March 6,2018, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call regarding an Armed Robbery that occurred West of Heidelberg. The victim states that three individuals he was riding with robbed him
at gun point. The suspects then took the victim home where he called and reported the crime. Arrested were Trevor Jones and Jhaquille Jones. Both were charged with Armed Robbery. Bond was set at $10,000 each by Judge Sullivan Dukes. The third suspect, Shawn A. Moore is wanted in connection with this crime. There is a warrant for his arrest in Jasper County.
