Two arrested on drug charges

On Wednesday 05-31-2017 Jasper County Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Stringer area with a vehicle occupied by Christopher S. Phillips and Lisa M. Stringer for a traffic violation. When deputies approached the vehicle Lisa M. Stringer appeared to be attempting to swallow something. Upon further investigation the deputies located numerous controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Lisa M. Stringer then later admitted to swallowing some of the controlled substances that were found in the vehicle.

As a result of the traffic stop Christopher S. Phillips was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance( 3 counts), misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), and multiple traffic violations. Phillips was also served with an outstanding contempt of court warrant.

Lisa M. Stringer was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), and tampering with physical evidence.

Bond will be set by Judge Marvin Jones.

Hicks arrest

On Friday 05-12-2017 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search warrant at the residence of Jason Scott Hicks in Bay Springs. The search warrant was obtained after an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances and the possession of stolen property. During the search warrant investigators located substances believed to be crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and prescription medication inside the residence. Multiple firearms, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of currency were also found inside the residence.

Investigators also located a stolen side by side utility vehicle in the wooded area behind the residence which had recently been stolen from a location in Clarke County.

As a result of the investigation and search warrant Jason Scott Hicks was charged with the following:
Possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm( 5 counts), possession of a controlled substance( 3 counts), sale of a stolen firearm (2 counts), sale of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm (1 count), sale of a controlled substance (2 counts), and receiving stolen property ( 1 count).

Bond will be set at a later date.
