Jasper County Sheriff’s Department arrested Justin B. Sansom for sale of a controlled substance and child abuse/endangerment. The arrest is the result of an investigation into illegal narcotic activity in the Oak Bowery and Heidelberg areas. Sansom is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail. Bond will be set at a later time.

During the February 2017 term of Circuit Court in Paulding the Grand Jury indicted,Kenny F. Edmondson for two counts of Felony Bad Checks totaling 10,867.50 The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department has been searching for Edmondson since February 2017. Edmondson fled to the Jackson, Ms. area and on June 13,2017 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department received a tip of Edmondson’s whereabouts. The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department was contacted and with the information we provided, Edmondson was arrested on June 14, 2017. Edmondson was transported to the Jasper County Jail and has been booked on charges of Felony Bad Checks. Edmondson will appear before Judge Eddie Bowen. Jasper County Sheriff’s Department has received information that Edmondson is also wanted in Covington County for similar charges.

On Wednesday 05-31-2017 Jasper County Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Stringer area with a vehicle occupied by Christopher S. Phillips and Lisa M. Stringer for a traffic violation. When deputies approached the vehicle Lisa M. Stringer appeared to be attempting to swallow something. Upon further investigation the deputies located numerous controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Lisa M. Stringer then later admitted to swallowing some of the controlled substances that were found in the vehicle.

As a result of the traffic stop Christopher S. Phillips was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance( 3 counts), misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), and multiple traffic violations. Phillips was also served with an outstanding contempt of court warrant.

Lisa M. Stringer was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance ( 3 counts), and tampering with physical evidence.

Bond will be set by Judge Marvin Jones.

On Friday 05-12-2017 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search warrant at the residence of Jason Scott Hicks in Bay Springs. The search warrant was obtained after an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances and the possession of stolen property. During the search warrant investigators located substances believed to be crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and prescription medication inside the residence. Multiple firearms, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of currency were also found inside the residence.

Investigators also located a stolen side by side utility vehicle in the wooded area behind the residence which had recently been stolen from a location in Clarke County.

As a result of the investigation and search warrant Jason Scott Hicks was charged with the following:
Possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm( 5 counts), possession of a controlled substance( 3 counts), sale of a stolen firearm (2 counts), sale of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm (1 count), sale of a controlled substance (2 counts), and receiving stolen property ( 1 count).

Bond will be set at a later date.
